Most Popular Hair Gels for Men
I have received a ton of requests to create a list of the most popular and the best hair gels for men. There are a lot of these of course and they cost between £3-20. The average price though is about £5 for a good quality one that will do the job nicely.
Below I have created a list based on what buyers say about them. Hopefully that will help you guys out and then people can make their own mind up which gel suits them best.
Before looking at those, here is a great video on how you should use hair gel to create the best effects.
VO5 Mega Hold Hair Styling Gel
This one comes in a 200 ml tube and costs around £4 and gets an average buyer rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Buyers clearly like this one a lot. This brand is famous for its shampoo and conditioners, so they clearly have good hair products.
This one is designed to:
- Give an extra strong hold
- Good for moulding and shaping
- Adds a good texture
- Quick and easy to wash out
This gel feels light and is not sticky which is always a good thing, and also smells pretty nice. You have no need to go crazy and use a lot of this as a little goes a long way. Buyers also said that when you comb it out the hair and scalp are fine. Some of the putty styles do tend to cause the scalp to go dry.
One buyer said this:
“My son uses this to style his hair and he loves it, nice smell easy to put on and helps his hair stay in place highly recommended.”
Black and White Pluko Hair Dressing Pomade
It has a very light coconut fragrance and is very good for sculpting, shaping and moulding the hair into a style.
This one costs around £5 for 100 grams so good vale for money. Buyers rate this product at 4.4 out of 5 stars. It is suitable for all hair types and leaves a very shiny finish.
This one has been around for over 30 years so clearly has been and still is a popular choice for the professionals. One buyer said this:
Got this for my other half who will not use any other hair product for taming his hair. loves it
Eco Styler Moroccan Argan Oil Styling Gel
This one is popular as it uses the new and trending Argan Oil. That is supposed to give a great shine to the hair, and many men use it on their beards for this purpose. Buyers rate this one at 4.3 out of 5 stars.
The manufacturer states that this one:
- Ensures no flaking, no tack and is anti-itch
- It has been designed for maximum hold
- Suitable for all hair types
- It also contains UV protection
- It is alcohol free
This one is also not just a gel for styling and moulding but the manufacturers have added in UV protection. The sun can damage your skin with its strong rays. As the head is always exposed and especially the scalp, this gel helps protect it from the UV rays.
Not just that it add moisture to the scalp and Vitamin E which does help promote a healthy scalp and healthy hair growth. One buyer said this:
“It does a good job of defining my curls and keeping them there, and it’s cheap.”
Eco Styler also do a very similar product but use olive oil instead of Argan oil. It is cheaper though at around £3 for a 946 ml tub. That one is rated at 4.2 out of 5 stars and appears to sell a lot more as well. You can check that out by clicking here.
Brylcreem Hair Gel Cream – 150 ml
The main benefit of this one is that when your hair dries out it doesn’t feel like a brick. It is also easy and fast to apply.
The manufacturer claims that this is:
- A light, non-greasy hold gel
- Makes the hair perfect for easy styling
- Will not leave your hair stiff and unmanageable
This one gets rated at 4.0 out of 5 stars and is still a popular choice for many men.
We will continue to add to this list so as you always have the best choices for men’s hair gels available.
