Who Would Buy the QC5570/13?
Most hair clippers all do the same job. This particular clipper has been designed to help reach those difficult spots that are particularly hard to reach. The rotating head that I mentioned earlier, allows you to control the angle of the blades. That makes it ideal for shaping around the ears, and along the back of the neck.
The blades are self-sharpening so you will never have to worry about replacing those, or leaving them in somewhere, to get sharpened. Many hair clippers made today will have that feature, and these are no exception.
The good news about these clippers is that you can use them when they are plugged in. That may not always be possible so these can also be used as a cordless product. They are powered by a battery that can last up to an hour, after only a one hour charge. The manufacturer states that a quick ten minute charge, will give you 10 minutes of cutting time. That is good to know if you are ever in a hurry and need a quick trim.
The All Important Settings
A zoom wheel is located just under the slipper head. That is where you can select and lock in the length you want them to cut at. There are a couple of combs that have settings of between 1-15 mm, (Grades 1-5) with 2 mm between each length. For those who simply want a buzz cut, then use the clipper without the comb to get it down to just 0.5 mm.
What Buyers Think About Their Purchase
With ratings as high as this set of clippers get, the reviews are mainly very positive. they state that the product is well made, feels nice in the hand, and is just a good quality.
if you are looking for clippers that are easy to use and give a nice end result, then these ones from Philips are as good as any on the market right now. One buyer said this:
Bought for my boyfriend who has been shaving his head with beard trimmers for the last 6 months which (surprisingly) had rubbish results and always lead to me having to finish the crown and back for him. Not any more! These are fantastic. Really easy to use and he can even do a neat job of the back of his head, behind the ears and the nape of his neck. Girlfriends/wives/mothers – buy these for your men. You won’t be disappointed.
I included this review as it sums up much f what the other buyers are saying. There are of course some buyers who didn’t like these, so I always check those out as well. Here is a summary of what they had to say.
There were 40 out of over 1000 bad reviews and they complained about two things. They said that these did not work that well on thicker hair. They also complained about the plastic combs breaking and that they were not covered under the guarantee.
Now I think it is fair to say that thick hair is a problem for most hair clippers. I would recommend that anyone with thick hair should always start by using scissors and try to thin it out with those as much as possible.
Having used clippers myself for years, I know from experience that it need thinned out otherwise it will quickly jam and clog up any set of clippers.
Summary and Verdict
We would recommend these for people who want a set of clippers that are easy to use and do a very good job. The rotating head is a really useful feature. Overall they get very good reviews. Many of the bad reviews was when these first came out and people were paying £60 for these. At £35 I think this is a better and more accurate price to pay. If you need a bigger range of cut ( up to 30mm ) you can check out our review on the Phillips QC5530, though it quite a bit more expensive
Overall the ratings are sitting at 4.5 out of 5 stars which is a very good rating. The more recent reviews are very positive so that is a good trend to have. Buyers clearly like this Philips product.
