Philips HC9450/15 Series 9000 Hair Clipper UK Review
Phillips is a big brand with a great reputation for quality. They are a lot better known for electric razors, not clippers, but they do make a good quality range of units. This latest clipper HC9450/15 is at the top of the range and is the updated version of the old HC9450/13 model.
This clipper is a cordless model that is a bit different from what you get with most standard models. Its designed with motorised combs that can be set to any length you want, it can also store your favourite settings in it memory. There are up to 400 settings!
It also comes as a complete kit and can cut from 0.5mm right up to 42mm, which is the best cut range that I have ever come across. It does this all with just 3 combs so there is no hassle about changing over many various attachments.
This model also has one of the best batteries you are ever likely to get and it will get you 2 hours of use from a one hour, super fast charge. This is number 2 big tick in the box ! Then number 3 tick is the dual cut action that will cut any hair twice as quick as most traditional clippers. This unit is much better than the vast majority of clippers on the market.
Philips HC9450/15 Hair Clipper Features
- Motorised combs
- Fully adjustable with cuts from 0.5mm to 42mm ( 0.5mm without the comb )
- Very fast 1 hour charge for 2 hour use
- Dual cut technology for quick cut
- Self sharpening, titanium blades
- Memory facility
This clipper has a very good rating of 4.3 out of 5 though I might have expected it to be higher, given the very high spec of features and the cost. Its priced at around £250 - £300 and I believe that is somewhat of a luxury item as far as i am concerned. The older model will do the same and i cant see where the jump in price is justified.
As you know the blades on clippers come in a variety of materials ranging from stainless steel right up to titanium and Japanese steel and this motorised clipper comes with self sharpening stainless Titanium blades which very little or no maintenance. You don't even have to oil them.
Whats in the box
- 1 x Clipper
- 1 x Charging lead
- 3 x cutting comb attachments
This clipper is so simple to use. You don't need a lot of accessories as it does everything with just 3 combs.
What Buyers Say About the Motorised Phillips 9450/15
This really good selling clipper is at this upper end of the price range and would be considered a best seller. Buyers all agree that this is a top quality product and things we hear from a lot of users are "excellent performance", "great quality", "modern and easy to use"
Buyers may have paid well for this product but the vast majority believe that its well worth the price tag
With over 5 out of 10 users rating this clipper 5 out of 5 and less than 1 in 10 users rating it quite low, we know that these are a very good clipper, though I would have expected a bit better reviews on this one as it really is without fault in my eyes and it totally loaded with top quality features.
As far as I can tell, the main reason why they aren't higher in the ratings is that some people find them to complicated to use. If you are moving up from a cheaper clipper then these are most definitely more complicated but then again you don't need to be a rocket scientist. I found them very easy to use, though the instructions are rubbish.
Underneath I have summarised those reviews to save you the trouble of doing that. The ratings are based on a star system, with 1 being the lowest rating, and 5 being the highest. Here is a percentage breakdown of those.
Straightaway, you can easily see that over three quarters of actual buyers rated this as well above average product.
If we consider all the ratings and reviews, its very easy to see that this is a very good quality clipper and you should expect that at £250 - £300. For me it has super battery, super range, super quick cut, super all round

Really loved this super clipper but dont think its worth spending that bit extra. It will do any type of cut quickly and easily and is very flexible. It scores 4.5 in the review ratings and for me its the best clipper in the range and out shines many other big name clippers in several areas. Pity about the price
This clipper gets a very high recommendation for us. 10 out of 10 for me actually and if I could give it 11, I would! You may also want to invest in some scissors if you are doing the full hairdressers job. Have a look at our article on the Best Hair Cutting Scissors if you want a bit more information.
This Philips HC9450 clipper price of £200-£300 has been inflated on Amazon due to Covid-19. Look at the geniune price at Argos of £87 (Argos haven’t inflated any of their prices!) and you can also check prices on the Pricespy website.
I would advise that you adjust your review accordingly.
Thank you for your informative website!
